The transition to parenthood is often filled with anticipation, joy, and unexpected challenges – research by The Gottman Institute shows that 67% of couples experience a significant drop in the quality of their relationship during the first three years of their baby’s life
Created and piloted nearly 20 years ago in Seattle, Washington, the Gottmans evolved their research into a real world workshop, applying skills and strategies to help couples prepare for and strengthen the transition to parenthood. Connecting with your partner about your hopes and fears helps increase parental connection, improve parent-child relationships and decrease marital conflict.
Longitudinal research shows that couples who attend a Bringing Baby Home workshop shows greater relationship satisfaction and reduces the experience of PMAD (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders) at three months postpartum and 1 year postpartum. Facilitated by experienced reproductive therapists, this in-person and interactive workshop supports couples preparing to welcome a baby in the next three months or in the first year of parenting. We welcome couples of all backgrounds, cultures, and family formation paths.
